7th Issue 2012 Da Vinci Interview: That Person and Book Discussion ~ Fukuda Mayuko (福田麻由子)

Taken from Da Vinci website.

Even when I’m 50, I would still not want a ‘Mirai Nikki’.

In regarding to her understanding the common society’s principle for the past 3 years, Fukuda-san said “I don’t think that’s true….” while disclosed about her anxiety and her answer to the problem of her day to day life.

“I always thought of wanting to take a break from here. But, I didn’t really know where this ‘here’ is. Is this ‘here’ the place I’m currently at, or is it my own emotions? In such time, I come across books.”

The story is about Kiku and Hashi, whom were found as newborn babies in coin lockers. From survive in the small box, they soon begin to confront society.

“Since it is so huge, no matter where we go, we can’t escape the imprisonment of society. Even though we can’t break away from there, we must continue to let our voices be heard. When I realized this truth, I felt a deep connection with the story.”

Even now, she carefully reread that one book many times. In order for her speech and conduct to not contain any lies… When she has that feeling, “In order to not be afraid, they are the stimulus to change myself more.”

Murakami-san’s works always shake my heart. Even when he wrote human with the heart of a devil, I really like his cold and inhuman literally style. In addition, this work is his best, and the writing style is really beautiful. Whenever I open this book, ‘Ah, I must read this quickly’ was my driven impulse.”

Even just for one second, she would still want to know quickly. But to know about your future is not something that will be fun. Right now, she’s currently appearing in the drama “Mirai Nikki”. The characters know their future from the diary in their smart phone, in order to survive they are risking their lives as they battled it out in a survival game.

“The story is really interesting. The drama is an addition story to the original work, so there are many differences. Just recently, the mysteries are gradually becoming clear. The people who disappear have another revival, and the tone of the story really continues to develop.”

The story is also nearing its climax. However, she hasn’t been inform of the ending. “That’s why, my feeling of waiting to know what’s going to happen next is the same as the viewers” she laughs. Becoming friends with her costars, the talks at the filming location is about “What would happen if this keitai exist…”.

“We asked this a lot. But I definitely don’t want it. I think passing difficult time while not knowing my future can give me good memories. But when I already know my future, I feel that I can’t try my best. That’s why, if I got a hold of it in my hand, even when I’m 50 years old, I won’t use it (laughs).”

■ The book Fukuda Mayuko-san selected is new version of “Coin Locker Babies”.

- I don’t think I did it right. I really guessed a lot of parts. I don’t think any of it is right… I don’t even know what is going on… Why is Japanese so hard?  (_ _|||)

- I do apologize for taking a long time to translate this one… ^^;; I was trying to finish some of my classwork…. And then I got sidetracked with Korean variety shows… m(。−_−。)m スイマセーン

- I wondered why they published this interview in the magazine and then put it on the web for everyone to see… I would’ve thought they will want to make money off of their stuffs…

- Have anyone read Murakami’s works? I was just wondering if I should start… The English translated version of his books are sitting on a corner of my tablet, but I’m just too lazy. Have anyone read them?

- A few announcements this time.

It’s VSArashi!!! Need I say more? It’s probably the only variety show that I currently enjoyed when I have time.

Fukuda Mayuko (福田麻由子) NHK: Supporting With All Our Power! London

WARNING: Semi-nothing-news. (・_・;)

On June 8th, FLaMme website posted a new work for Mayuko in the other section.

2012.6.8~  NHK「全力応援!ロンドン」キャンペーンスポット

NHK “Zenryoku Ouen! London” Campaign Sport

Your eyes have not deceive you, it does say starting from June 8th. FLaMme’s usual habits of posting things until the last minute appeared once again. Not only that, putting it in the other section made a lot of fans confused on what kind of work this is going to be.

When searching for the title, as expected, a website about the London Olympic came up. Other than that, no information is given out.

Today, as I was doing my daily ritual news checkup for Mayuko, on one of her picture BBS, an image appeared dealing with the new work.

2012 London Olympic

7/27 (Fri) ~ 8/12 (Sun)

The poster wrote “Came across this by chance.”

On 2chan, another poster wrote “Seemed like the theme for her role is a ‘unfortunate girl’”.

So what does this all mean?

1. She’s acting.

2. The show, or whatever it is, is short, since it’s “by chance”.

3. Support + London Olympic.

My guesses are:

1. CM

2. A dramatize version of a documentary where Mayuko playing the role of an athlete preparing for the Olympics.

Since the date on FLaMme’s website say 2012.6.8~, it makes me think that it will be continuing on until the start of the Olympic. So because of that, many guessed that it’s a CM, and she’s going to be supporting the Olympics. So perhaps in a few days, more information/pictures will come out. Until then, I guess we will have to wait.

The thing I’m confused about is if it really is a CM then why didn’t FLaMme just categorized this in her CM section. It will be easier to understand what it’s supposed to be.

So… Mayuko’s new work(?) is a CM(?) for the London Olympic! I do hope someone will post it up soon.

- Much loves and thanks to an anonymous poster (why are you still anon? I can’t credit you properly) who graciously send me the link to the video about her next work. As expected, it’s a CM. Just a few seconds of Mayuko being a studious student with Ikimonogakari singing Kaze ga Fuiteiru in the background. Anyways, it’s easier for you to just watch it for yourself. ♥

- For some reason, I’m starting to get excited about the Olympics… Which I have never really been before. >:3

Da Vinci Web Interview: That Person and Book Discussion ~ Fukuda Mayuko (福田麻由子)

Takken from Da Vinci website.

In order to have a dream, one must immerse oneself to one’s emotions. Reading is that precious moment of enjoyment.

Each month a celebrity is chosen from three to be introduce in Da Vinci magazine’s popular serialization “That Person and Book Discussion”. For this issue is Fukuda Mayuko-san, who is currently performing in the drama “Mirai Nikki – ANOTHER: WORLD-“. A girl who love literature, she will be talking about her reading obsession.

“As I thought, reading on paper is the best.”

She happily said as she begins flipping through Murakami Ryu’sCoin Locker Babies” that she brought with her.

“I like chasing after the vertical sentences written on white paper. Also, even though it’s just my own problem, whichever book I first bought, I want to continue reading it for a long time. For example, just a while ago, this book has a renewed edition, but for me, I’m not satisfied if I don’t understand the previous edition. Beside from the thickness and size of the book, the new edition is a completely different book for me (laughs). That’s why, even if my own book become tattered and falls apart, I absolutely won’t buy the new edition. Ah, but the new version of “Coin Locker~” contains Kanehara Hitomi-san’s commentary, it’s really great. That’s why I’m thinking of buying an additional book (laughs).”

Many of the book Fukuda-san read are pure literature. When asked about her favorite author, other names she mentioned beside from Murakami Ryu are Kawakami Mieko, Machida Kou, and Murakami Haruki.

“It’s not that I’m obsess with authors, but when I look at the binding and the first sentences, I thought it seems interesting and instantly decided to purchase it. Recently…. That’s right, Moomins! The story of the Moomins are really wonderful. I especially recommend “Tales from Moominvalley”!”

The reason why she love literature is, “It feels like you can see your dream.”

“Seeing your dream when you’re not asleep, I think it’s the best way to escape from reality. Reading novel is something I can feel the closest to. While living as I usually do everyday, my own feeling is being restraint and I’m unable to do things skillfully. But just enjoying myself as my emotions stirred by simple novels and dreams is good enough. For me, that time is very precious.”

- Lame translation. An interview that doesn’t have anything to do with Mirai Nikki, just her hobbies… Books, as usual.

- Maybe the magazine version is more on Mirai Nikki drama, I don’t know… Since the corner is about book, it may just be all about books, or a list of books that she likes.

- Sorry. I’m so hungry, I can’t really think right now. >__<;;

- Um, Mirai Nikki team will be on VS Arashi. Not sure about the date yet. Fans assumed it may be 2 weeks later or so. Uh… I don’t know who’s going to be in it either. I hope Mayuko will go, but seeing that the shoot was on a weekday (?), which means Mayuko may have school. Ugh, I really hope I am wrong and she will be there. *cross fingers*

Topic 22: Hongo Kanata-san (本郷奏多) & Fukuda Mayuko-san (福田麻由子) Talk–Second Part

Taken from Mirai Nikki’s topic page.

Continued from part 1.

What do you think is an appeal of “Mirai Nikki” live action?

Hongo: Before the filming even begin, you have to transfer a lot of materials over. For that, everything of the character’s personality and circumstances have to be minutely established. Furthermore, the drama need to be written up until the point where it cannot be written anymore. Because it’s packed to that extent with the creation process, the worldview is profound, and the quality is high that I think it is something worth watching. And also, in the middle, it’s really interesting that the main cast suddenly disappeared one by one, I think it’s a shocking factor for the people watching (laughs).

Fukuda: Me too, I really like the worldview of this drama. Even when just hearing about the story, there are a lot of action scenes so I thought it is similar to a game. Of course there are components like that in it, but all the characters have a heart and mind of their own. It’s really amazing to properly depicting that while making it seems like a game. Because I think only the drama can portray it as such, I really like it.

Would you like to have your own “Mirai Nikki” that can tell you your future?

Hongo: Well, I think I would want it (laughs).

Fukuda: Really!?

Hongo: Then I wouldn’t have any weakness. Though for example, if by any chance, I died from drowning, I wouldn’t be able to be carefree. Though in reality, I wouldn’t like it if I have to play a survival game, but if it’s just a function to know my future, I think it’ll be nice.

Fukuda: I don’t want it. If I know my future, it’ll be boring. Because I don’t know it, that’s why I think I can try my best.

Hongo: That’s true that if you know everything then it would be boring. But it doesn’t say everything about your future and you can go against it, so if it just indicates a little bit, I think it would be good.

Please tell us the highlights as we are going toward the end.

Hongo: The story is advancing, particularly episode 7 where the puzzles are starting to come together, and Arata’s switch is finally turned on. And then reality suddenly changed, I think it’s good. The story really crossed your expectations. For example, you’ll be able to see Yuno’s viewpoint. When you do, “Ah, so it’s like that” and you’ll realized all the hints that was laid out through the drama. Please look forward to that worldview of the drama.

Fukuda: The core of “Mirai Nikki” will appear in episode 7-8, I hope you won’t miss it. Each characters’ connections are slowly become apparent, and then you will once again see each character’s charm. I think perhaps you will like the characters even more. With that, I hope it will live up to your expectations.

- More boring than the first part, as they don’t have as much interactions as the first. Hope they’ll be in a magazine interview together. That’s always more amusing.

- Hmm… Mayuko is straight as an arrow… Too serious.( ̄〜 ̄;)

- I agreed with Hongo’s statement about how the main casts suddenly died one by one. Of course it is part of the manga storyline as well, but it is really different compared to other dramas. But at the same time, I really enjoyed it like that, because when the focus is on one character, it really focus on the character, and they can be properly developed. A lot of dramas/stories/manga/anime have a problem with too many redundant characters that doesn’t do anything to the story. Oh, I suddenly remembered a rather useless character in Mirai Nikki…. Kousaka Ouji… I’m not to sure what’s his role in here is, maybe comedy relief? Or maybe, just a comparative on how Arata and Rui would be if they didn’t have to deal with Mirai Nikki. I don’t know.

- Love Mayuko and Hongo in this drama. Hope these 4 will be in a drama together again.
